News and my thoughts going
into the November 17, 2006, James Bond 007 feature film, Casino Royale. And for those of you new to my site,
this isn't just about the franchise: I've got my eyes pealed for
information on the next
watches he's wearing.

Omega SA exhibits James Bond film watches
Now
through January 2007, Omega SA is displaying an exclusive selection of
photographs, Omega watches worn by members of the cast, and actual props
used in the filming of the latest James Bond 007 film, Casino Royale.
Its James Bond Exhibition is open to
the public at Cité du Temps in Geneva, Switzerland. One broad view of
this fantastic presentation is shown here, at left.
A special highlight kiosk features
the Omega 2900.50.91 Seamaster Planet Ocean worn by Daniel Craig in the
production. Those of us
who've closely followed and
first identified the James Bond watch in Casino Royale
appreciate this line from the official Omega SA press release here. "In
point of fact, Daniel Craig wears two Omega watches in Casino Royale.
The first is a striking black Planet Ocean...."
A
closer look thanks to the image at left shows the sort of details a
collector of fine authentic pieces love. For example, compare the
condition of the strap here to the
exclusive images that first broke on my March 8 weblog here:
Road wear in evidence! Yet the iridescent blue anti-reflective coating
on the crystal still beautifully reflects one of the the light sources
in this photograph. The time is set to within 7 minutes of this blog
entry, as opposed to the traditional ~10:10 time favored by watch makers
for their new release images.
And while Sean Connery's Rolex bezel
was famously shown set at 2˝ minutes in Goldfinger, it
looks like those of us who find the 12 o'clock position too pedestrian
will be setting our 2900.50.91 rings to just past the 15-minute mark.
All of these images were provided to
me in much higher resolution that we have space for here. But let me add
by returning to the top image for a moment, the kiosk to the immediate
left of the one featuring the Casino Royale Planet Ocean
clearly reads, "Die Another Day." Further behind that,
then, in this composition, is an architectural scale model of the
fictional "Casino Royale" in Montenegro. Omega SA goes on in its
materials to say, "Also on view in the Geneva exhibition are producer
Barbara Broccoli's copy of the Casino Royale screenplay, Bond's money
clip and credit cards, British passports made out to Bond and Vesper
Lynd, short videos with scenes from the film, and large scale
photographs from the set, many of which have not previously been
released elsewhere."
