Omega Seamaster 2537.80 Watch

Image: Photo of Omega Seamaster 2537.80.00 casebackWhen I started to research the 007 Omega Seamaster 2537.80 Limited Edition ("LE"), I was already rather familiar with the standard 2531.80 worn by Pierce Brosnan as James Bond in Tomorrow Never Dies, The World Is Not Enough, and Die Another Day.

However — despite the relatively straightforward differences between these two — actually preparing to purchase this pre-owned anniversary, or special edition wristwatch is another matter. Limited to just 10,007 pieces, I was too late to buy one new, as issued in 2002, from an Omega Authorized Dealer.

And as many as three out of four I found being sold on the Internet were fakes.

Really convincing fakes. We're talkin' need-to-catch-this-one-small-revealing-detail fakes.

So I've put together these pages to help others identify and appreciate examples of authentic originals. Even if you don't have plans to own one yourself, this is a timepiece with cosmetic details that make it a real beauty. For the Bond fan, pure horologist, or a well-blended mix (such as I am).

As Originally Purchased New

In 2002, the Omega Seamaster 2537.80.00 diver's chronometer carried a $_____ Manufacturer's Suggested Retail Price ("MSRP") here in the United States. In some cases, customers paid a premium on top of this when purchasing. The watch was released to coincide with the 40th anniversary of the first Danjac, EON James Bond 007 film, Dr. No (starring Sean Connery), and its 20th feature, Die Another Day (starring Pierce Brosnan).

New owners received the following with this purchase. This is an M-7 issue on my movie watch properties scale.

*Although this is the 110th page created for the site, and didn't come about until some 6 months after launch, this is, in fact, the driving force behind my creation of a personal website. I couldn't stand the way people were being mislead by ignorance, disorganization, and outright false advertising. So, once again, I decided to post information in an effort to de-fang another tiger.
