"I'm just a professional doing a job," Dr. Kaufman
(Vincent Schiavelli).
"Me, too," James Bond (Pierce Brosnan).
— One of
those scenes played out where one man coldly, and with no sympathy
dismisses his own despicable behavior by hiding behind the claim that he
is doing no more than what is assigned to him by others. Yet when the
roles are reversed, he asks that an exception by made.
Not here, not
with this James Bond.
"Discipline, 007. Discipline," James
Bond (Sean Connery).
— The three words of the franchise?
Here we have James Bond behind the
wheel of the Aston Martin DB5 in its debut appearance. He's tempted to
misuse the tracking device exactly as Q instructed him not to: To divert
from the mission and indulge his temptation to follow the attractive
blond (Tania Mallet) that races past him on the road.
Indeed, his weakness for women such
as this was just exploited in the last mission on the big screen,
From Russia with Love. And would be so again, with even darker
consequences, in Die Another Day.
Also note this rare instance where he
refers to himself by number, not name. Later in this same film, he
underscores his own disinclination toward this when he corrects Auric
Goldfinger (Gert Frobe), when he refers to him by number.
"My name is James Bond."
