Letter of Recommendation #2
by Dell Deaton

This letter of recommendation holds a special place for me. Karen and I had worked together for over a decade when she wrote it. In addition for all that she did for me as an account manager, it was a joy to coach and encourage her through goals, steps, and risks she had to take in order to reach the career potential I knew was in her.

Mr. Wendell R. Deaton
President
Proteus Tradeshow Marketing

Dear Dell:

Can you believe that it's been almost 11 years since we first started working together? You were in charge of marketing for the Plastic Container Division of Johnson Controls, and I was an account executive for Convention Exhibits, Inc. Our first trade show was Pack Alimentaire, and you were the client then. Now I've been at Osgood Displays for almost 7 years, where we also did work for JCI.

Image: Letter of Recommendation from Karen Churms, page 1I'm glad we got off to such a great start. I've really enjoyed the challenges we've faced on projects all over the United States, and in Europe, and in Mexico. I've grown a lot personally, and I really credit you for the faith and patience you had in me to do more than I'd done before, to do it in a different way sometimes, and even to make mistakes without being afraid. I thought teamwork was something when you took the risk for us with the new build for InterBev, but that was nothing compared to the riggers, millrights, carpenters, machine technicians and all their helpers you had to bring together and direct (and keep from getting discouraged when things got rough during setup, as they always do!) for NPE and the K' shows.

Image: Letter of Recommendation from Karen Churms, page 2In 1995 you left all that to go after Proteus full time, finally, after two years preparing to do that! (Was there ever a detail or preparation you missed on a blueprint or during an in-plant?) But even after you left the company, you were still there for me when I kept working for them. You were also there for your co-workers at Johnson Controls, making sure that whatever they were doing after you left, still had your help whenever they asked for it. Dairy shows for the Machinery Division, water shows for the Container Division. Often times you'd just help me out at Osgood behind the scenes. You really care about making sure things turn out right, and you are a really loyal business person and a good personal friend. Sometimes you push me beyond my faith in myself, but you stay there to make sure it goes fine. I'm glad about that.

I think that the trade show industry is really lucky to have you available as a consultant. You've done great work for us over the past five years, and I'd recommend you to anyone! I hope you always are blessed in return with what you give so freely to others.

Your friend,
OSGOOD DISPLAYS & SERVICES, INC.

Karen Churms
Account Services Manager
