Letter of Recommendation #4
by Dell Deaton

This letter of recommendation comes from the SnowSports Industries Association ("SIA"), a group that represents everything to do with snow sports — short of the slopes themselves. I was involved in a number of projects with this great client, including research, focus groups, and communications.

The work described here involves reconciling the sales and channel timing needs of clothing and equipment factions, and negotiating a best fit for one or more industry trade shows within their overlapping business-to-business distribution needs. Facilitating decisions among the innovative, energetic entrepreneurs here was both intense and fun.

Dear Dell:

Now that the SIA Board of Directors has made its decision, based upon our year-long study to determine the optimal timing of the SIA Show, I want to thank you for the important contributions that you and Proteus made to the results.

Image: Letter of Recommendation from SnowSports Industry Association, Alexandria, VAThe board's action regarding the timing of our show promises to prove historic for our industry. You and Proteus provided much-needed structure and clarity to a decision-making dynamic that was complex and challenging. We needed objectivity and we got it from Proteus, whether it was in your study of competitive industries buy/sell cycle, in the way you helped us literally chart the deliberative process of the forum groups, or in drafting the final proposed board resolution.

Your flexibility and energy was unflagging throughout the many months that Proteus dedicated to our study. This was true even when the demands of the schedule were unavoidably last minute, and no matter how long the hours or grueling the task.

Most importantly, you helped facilitate our Board to this extremely important decision by developing a logical underpinning. This demonstrated to our entire industry SIA's professionalism and accountability in leadership.

Without a doubt, the challenges facing trade show producers have grown in number, complexity, and sophistication over the last decade. Given your proven ability to conquer complexity and facilitate to a clear understanding of issues in the marketplace, I would recommend Proteus to any show producer who must devote all available resources — and then some — to beating the competition.

Sincerely,

David Ingemie
President
