Letter of Recommendation #7
by Dell Deaton

This letter of recommendation speaks mostly to the competitive intelligence work that I do on occasion. It's the closest most folks in business-to-business work will ever get to being like James Bond, 007, and in my case, I always felt like the international aspects of these projects inched me a bit further in front of that pack.

Dear Dell:

Three years and more of having worked with you while I was International Director for Exhibitgroup/Giltspur, project after project, should give you anyone a good idea of how highly I think of your contributions.

Image: Letter of Recommendation from Mike Libow, regarding my international work for Exhibitgroup / GiltspurWhen I first approached you to create from scratch a global competitor analysis in 1996, I was already aware of your fine industry reputation. Our service partner in Mexico, for example, spoke very highly of the business development consulting you'd done for him and several of his colleagues there. Those of us who relied on the thoroughness of your competitor research and the quality of your analysis were very pleased with what we received, impressed with the rapid turn around, and the confidentiality which you maintained in respect to our competitive needs. Long after your final report was delivered, you remained available and accountable for what you had written, answering questions of anyone else at Exhibitgroup/Giltspur who subsequently depended on your analysis.

Our last project was certainly much longer in contrast, requiring a great deal of flexibility and care as you dealt on our behalf in direct contact with field operations and new acquisition partners in Europe. Your sensitivity, respect, and personal demeanor in dealing with such varying perspectives and cultures, often in touchy situations, was very valuable to me. I think you present a great reflection on the clients you serve.

In between, I enjoyed our joint presentation in front of the Healthcare Convention & Visitors Association — outside of US borders. We packed a lot of information into that session, and I think we did it with impact, and a positive, "you can be successful, too" feel.

I hope you will share this letter with current and future business prospects, so that they can also benefit from working with you.

Best regards,

Mike Libow
